ORTOLAN – ‘Singing Bunting’

This Superellipsoid sculpture of Persian Onyx has incredible veins of color running through it. It is mounted on a base of the same stone. An ellipsoid is a mathematical formula for rounding the corners of a square, and a superellipsoid is the formula for rounding the corners of a cube. My interpretation has a core through the center – I don’t think there is an equation for that.
