OPACUS - ‘Obscures the Sun’

Opacus refers to a type of cloud that is so dense it obscures the sun. This Black Belgian Marble is unusually dark, so OPACUS seems like a perfect title. As I remove material, I keep stone struts between the sides. This helps with stability while I work. One of these struts turned into a rib across the Möbius. I also incorporated a ‘spine’ that flows up the center of the strip. Black Belgian Marble formed 380 million years ago. This stone is exceedingly rare, so it is one of the most expensive marbles in the world.
