HUNAJA - ‘Honey’
Bronze, Jade Patina, Edition of 25
29 H x 13 W x 13 in.
Hunaja (who-ni-ya), Finnish for “honey,” takes its name from the original sculpture I carved in radiant Utah Honeycomb Calcite. This version, cast in bronze, brings a whole new presence: bold, weighty, and timeless. The form is a Möbius strip, a shape I’ve returned to throughout my career. There’s something profound about its simplicity—a single surface, endlessly looping, with no beginning and no end. With Hunaja, I carved a soft dip into the plane of the ribbon, giving it a sensual gesture. Whether in stone or metal, the Möbius speaks to my belief that sculpture can be both mathematical and emotional.
