ASPECT - ‘Feature of Something’
Utah ‘Honeycomb’ Calcite

As I am cutting a block for my envisioned sculpture, sometimes the stone presents a cool ‘Aspect’. This tall shard of Utah ‘Honeycomb’ Calcite really intrigued me because it did not fall apart. I had to honor this facet. I decided to leave 2 sides in their natural state, allowing the viewer to envision what it might have looked like freshly removed from the mountain side. I then polished the third side, to bring out the honeycomb pattern in this stone.
