Milestones
1980–1990: The Beginning of a Vision
1980: Graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Sculpture.
1981: Carved his first Mobius-inspired sculpture — beginning the fluid, continuous style that defines his work.
1983: Exhibited in Chicago and Carmel, earning early recognition for his abstract stone forms.
1985: Traveled to Carrara, Italy, to source marble — starting his lifelong connection to international stones.
1986: Opened his first professional studio in Alexander Valley, California.
1987: Completed his first major corporate commission.
1990–2000: Growth and Exploration
1991 - 2000: Featured in over 100 solo and group exhibitions nationwide, expanding his reputation in the art world.
1994: Introduced the Fossil and Petroglyph series, inspired by ancient markings and natural time.
1995: Launched his first website — one of the early sculptors to embrace digital outreach.
2000–2010: Innovation and Recognition
2001: Created Mistral, an 8-foot sculpture from a 10,000-pound Utah Rhyolite boulder, installed in Encinitas, California.
2002: Artist-in-Residence at Dellatolas Stone Sculpture Studio in Greece, pioneering core-drilling techniques.
2004: Exhibited Exploring the Core at Gallery Carla in San Francisco, showcasing this innovative method.
2005: Expanded his studio team, hiring his first marketing director to deepen engagement with collectors and galleries.
2006: Returned to Carrara, Italy, as Artist-in-Residence at Arco Arte Studio. Celebrated 25 Years of Sculpture with the T25 Event
2007: Completed 9 commissions in one year and acquired six tons of Utah Calcite, inspiring a new body of work.
2008: Hosted World of Stone, featuring stone sculptures sourced from 16 countries.
2010–2020: Community and Collaboration
2011: T30 event raised $10,000 for Alliance Medical in Healdsbug CA & publishing T30: Three Decades of Excellence
2015: Began a local International Sculpture Day with “Paint Rock” events and eventually hosting 10 Sonoma County sculptors at his studio to celebrate the annual event
2014: Celebrated 25 years in Santa Fe, NM with ‘SpiritStone’ at Hunter Kirkland Gallery
2018: Participated in public art projects and welcomed new studio staff, strengthening operations and outreach.
2020–Present: Legacy and New Frontiers
2020: Began gallery representation with:

Avran Fine Arts (now Maker Fine Arts) – Laguna Beach, CA
2020: Held a virtual Collectors event during Covid celebrating 40 years of T Barny Sculpture & publishing a retrospective of T Barny’s work: ’40 Years of Vision’
2022:
Exhibited Circo X at the El Paseo Sculpture Exhibition in Palm Desert for two years.
Partnered with Pyrology Bronze Foundry in Bastrop, Texas, to expand bronze editions.
Launched the Quicksilver Collection - polished stainless steel sculptures exploring light, reflection, and motion.
2023: Selected for The de Young Open at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.
2025: Celebrates 45 Years of Sculpting with 4T5 exhibitions and events in Santa Fe, NM and Healdsburg, CA
