We the Sculptors…

From ancient monuments carved in stone to bold contemporary abstraction, sculpture has always been a defiant presence in the world. It occupies space and refuses to be ignored.

Ten Sonoma County sculptors will gather at the T Barny Gallery and Sculpture Gardens on April 25 & 26 from 11 AM to 4 PM to celebrate International Sculpture Days with an event titled We The Sculptors. Their works range from Ceramics to Stone, and Steel to Zip Ties.

This year’s event embraces the belief that sculpture can inspire, provoke, and challenge the world around us. Visitors can engage in acts of “defiant dissidence,” exploring how art can serve as both personal reflection and public voice.

The event draws on a long tradition of artists and citizens using visual language to express dissent, question norms, and imagine new possibilities. At its core, We The Sculptors affirms the enduring role of artists to challenge, to question, and to stand visibly in the public square.

As T Barny often says, “make very good trouble.” For him, sculpture is one way to do exactly that. “A sculpture stands its ground,” he says. “It takes up space, it asks something of you, and it doesn’t apologize. That is its power. That is its purpose.”

Join us in the gardens for a free weekend of art that speaks, resists, and invites you to do the same.

Come stand with us and join the conversation. Come make a little, very good trouble of your own - Defiant Dissidence
