Team Barny's PORTAL Selected for O Say Can You See... the Soul of Our Nation

We are honored that Portal, a collaborative sculpture by Team Barny, has been selected for O Say Can You See... the Soul of Our Nation at Rhythmix Cultural Works in Alameda. The exhibition brings together Bay Area artists whose work imagines a hopeful future while reflecting on the challenges facing our democracy today.

The Portal “entry” - where participants share their hopes and dreams for the future.

Created by T Barny, Haley Pierce, Wendy Dayton, and Melinda Barnard, Portal invites participation. The painted column traces a journey from darkness and division to resilience and hope. At its center, a growing tree symbolizes the strength of collective action, while visitors are encouraged to write their hopes for the future and place them inside the sculpture, transforming individual voices into a shared vision.

The exhibition opens with a free public reception on Friday, July 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. and continues through August 29 at Rhythmix Cultural Works. We hope you'll experience Portal and add your own hopes to the conversation.
