AERIE - ‘Falcon’s Nest’
“Aerie” is one of my favorite pieces. It is a unique shape and a unique stone. The concept was so complicated that I made a model in plastalina just to figure out my continuous edge. Most pieces I carve require 1-3 core holes; “Aerie” needed six. The shape changes spectacularly as it turns. This is green marble from the island of Tinos, Greece. We visited the ancient quarries which are no longer active and I was able to purchase this one block.
AERIE was created in 2009 and collected in 2016 by Bill and Amy Smith of Cleveland, OH.
