ARDERE - ‘Flame in Latin’
Utah ‘Honeycomb’ Calcite
My journey with stone often begins by drilling holes into the rough block. In the case of this Calcite marvel, I chose to create two intriguing slots. This piercing technique serves as my portal to the evolution of my Mobius "line/edge."
As you rotate this piece, the slits magically transform into dynamic holes, breathing life into the sculpture's negative space, causing it to dance and shift. This creative choice also birthed a tall, slender form that, to my eyes, embodies the essence of a flickering flame. This new approach to the stone brought me new excitement and a delightful exploration into the unknown.
